SR-22 vs. FR-44 in Florida

Florida is one of only two states that uses an FR-44. A DUI conviction requires an FR-44 with 100/300/50 liability limits, while other violations require a standard SR-22.

How long you file

Both filings run 3 continuous years from your reinstatement date. Any lapse re-suspends your license and restarts the term.

Reinstatement fees

The FLHSMV charges $150 for a first reinstatement, $250 for a second, and $500 after that.

No-fault coverage still applies

Every registered vehicle in Florida needs $10,000 PIP and $10,000 property damage liability on top of the filing.

Non-owner policies

If no vehicle is registered in your name, a non-owner SR-22 or FR-44 satisfies the state at a much lower premium.
