The term starts at reinstatement, not conviction
In most states the countdown begins the day your driving privileges are restored, not the day you were convicted. Delaying reinstatement only delays the finish line.
"Continuous" is the important word
Coverage must stay active every single day. A missed payment that cancels the policy sends an SR-26 to the state, and in most states you start the filing period over.
Check your state's exact requirement
Filing lengths, minimum limits and reinstatement fees differ by state. See the state-by-state SR-22 requirements for yours, and read what happens on a lapse in coverage.
