Travelers Insurance FR-44 and SR-22 Policies

Travelers is a standard carrier with strong service and competitive rates for clean drivers. After a DUI and an FR-44 requirement, the calculation changes.

What Travelers will do

If you are already a Travelers customer, they will generally add an SR-22 filing where they write it, for a one-time filing fee. The certificate is transmitted electronically and the policy continues.

Where it gets complicated

  • FR-44 availability is narrower than SR-22 availability. Florida and Virginia DUI filings at 100/300/50 are not written by every standard carrier in every situation.
  • Re-rating happens immediately. Adding a filing prompts a fresh motor vehicle report, and a DUI moves a standard-carrier premium sharply — often past what a non-standard specialist charges for identical coverage.
  • Non-renewal is possible. Some standard carriers keep the policy through the term and decline to renew.
  • The right comparison

Do not compare a Travelers renewal against nothing. Compare it against carriers built for filings — Dairyland, Bristol West, Gainsco, Infinity — at the exact same limits. Sometimes Travelers still wins, especially with a long tenure and bundled home policy. Often it does not.

    Sequence matters

Get the replacement quote first, bind it, then cancel. A gap between policies sends a cancellation notice to the state and re-suspends the license.

    One call, several quotes

We are independent — we run the filing carriers side by side and file the SR-22 or FR-44 with the state the day you bind.
